The Community Development Office is responsible for writing and administering a wide variety of both state and federal grants for construction and non-construction projects. In addition, this office is responsible for coordinating different aspects of other construction projects between various city departments and other outside contractors, architect, engineers and other agencies. All require day to day, hands on management. The Community Development office also serves as the City's laison between different state and federal agencies, prospective industries and other local entities, including the Chamber of Commerce, Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance, Operation Downtown, Beautification Board and others. Assisting in the areas economic development effort is also a prime responsibility of this office. Other duties include representing the City as the administrator of the T.C. Russell Airport as well as the Alexander City Nutrition Center.
