When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the holiday shall be observed on the preceding Friday. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as a holiday, unless otherwise designated by the City Council. When the 25th of December falls on Saturday the 23rd and 24th (Thursday and Friday) will be the declared holidays, or when the 25th falls on a Sunday, then the 23rd and 26th (Friday and Monday) will be declared holidays. When the 25th falls on a Monday, then the 25th and 26th (Monday and Tuesday) will be declared holidays. When a holiday falls on an employees scheduled off-day, he may be provided comparable time off at discretion of the department head.
