Function of Department
The Purchasing Department is responsible for all the procurement of all supplies, equipment and materials used by the City of Alexander City. Purchases are made consistent with quality, delivery and economic consideration. The Purchasing Department is responsible for proper maintenance of records and to ensure compliance with State Laws and City ordinances as pertains to purchases by the city. The department provides support to the various departments withing the city for their day to day operations. The department is responsible for disposition of obsolete, unserviceable or unused supplies, materials and equipment. Purchasing performs other duties as may be imposed by the Mayor of by resolution or ordinance by the City Council.
General Information
Vendors may request in writing to be placed on the city's vendor list to receive invitations to bid. The request must include the types of materials and equipment a vendor wishes to bid on.
