On Tuesday, December 16, 2008 Mamie's Place Children's Library had a very special visitor all the way from the North Pole. Santa came by for a visit and storytime.

On Saturday, December 6, 2008 the Alabama Shakespeare Festival came to Mamie's Place Children's Library to promote their play "The Christmas Carol".

For Halloween 2008 the library employees brought the book Poultrygeist by Mary Jane Auch to life. The children loved the Halloween themed book and their favorite character was "Sophie" the pig. There were over 80 in attendance.

On Saturday, October 11, 2008 the Alabama Shakespeare Festival came to Mamie's Place Children's Library to promote their new play Charlotte's Web.

On Thursday, October 9, 2008 the Alexander City Fire Department came to Mamie's Place Children's Library and taught the children about fire safety.

On July 22, 2008 the Children's Library had a special guest "WInnie the Pooh". The children were served honey and crackers. There were 72 children and 20 adults in attendance.

On July 17, 2008 Tommy Johns was at the library with his program "GO WILD". He is a magician and puppeteer. There were 65 children and 51 adults in attendance.

On July 8, 2008 Winston and Carol Baker presented a program on butterflies. There were 137 in attendance.

On July 2, 2008 Mamie's Place had a July 4th storytime. There were 40 in attendance. After the presentation the children were served "Bugcream" furnished by Pete's Family Restaurant.

On June 25, 2008 the Mcwane Science Center presented a program titled "Creepy Crawlers" for the summer reading program. There were 218 in attendance.

Melba Turner was at Mamie's Place on June 19, 2008 to share her book Turtlespace. There were 60 in attendance.

The Ugly Bug Ball was June 11, 2008 at Mamie's Place Children's Library. The program was presented by the Children's Educational Theater. There were 120 in attendance.

On June 2, 2008 Jim Aycock entertained the children at Mamie's Place for the Summer Reading Kick Off Program. The theme for this year is "Catch the Reading Bug". There were 246 in attendance.

The Bunny Rabbit recently hopped into the Children's Library story-hour to share a basket full of eggs.

In celebration of Black History Month Dr. Emerson Ware presented a program on his recent visit to Africa. 34 Adults and 160 children were present on February 28, 2008.

In February 2008 Mamie's Place Children's Library hosted story times featuring Winnie the Pooh. There were stories, songs and special treats. The total attendance was 26.

On February 13, 2008 the Leadership Lake Martin Class came to Mamie's Place Children's Library for a tour. Kathryn Reed read the Gold miner's daughter and Winnie the Pooh made a surprise visit and gave everyone a very sweet treat to take with them. There were 20 in attendance.
