Marcus Billups D.A.R.E. OfficerThe D.A.R.E. program has been taught to grades k-12 in Alexander City schools since 1990. The program is a collaborative effort by Law Enforcement Officers, educators, students, parents and the community to educate children and teens about the dangers of drugs and violence.

The primary mission of the D.A.R.E. program is to provide children with the information and skills they need to live drug and violence free lives. Additionally, it establishes positive relationships between students and law enforcement, teachers, parents, and other community members.

The DARE program helps students develop social competence, communication skills, self-esteem, empathy, decision-making, conflict resolution, sense of purpose, independence, and positive alternatives to bad behavior.

Residents and Parents are invited to contact the D.A.R.E officer if they desire further information. Currently we have one officer assigned to the D.A.R.E Division. The D.A.R.E. officer is available during the week by contacting (256) 329-6763 between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
