In early November, 2006, Steve Morgan, a detective for the Alexander City Police Department, transferred to the Building Department as the new Code Enforcement Office. Steve will retain full arrest powers in his new position, which will be a huge asset in the execution of his new duties. Steve is a graduate of Benjamin Russell High School and attended Central Alabama Community College. Steve graduated from the Police Academy in May of 1991 and served as a patrolman with the Alexander City Police Department until November of 1992, when he was promoted to Criminal Investigations.

Steve's office is located in the Building Department in City Hall. He will be responsible for enforcing all City ordinances related to land use, signs, buildings, landscaping, property maintenance, nonusable or junk vehicles, abandon or dilapidated structure removal and other crimes against the City. Steve can be reached by phone at 256-329-6706 or by email at steve.morgan@alexandercityal.gov
